The Casey County News, a Landmark Community Newspapers, LLC 
property, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of 
Editor.

The Editor is a 40-hour full-time position responsible for 
achieving the content improvement plan goals and objectives of The 
Casey County News. Leading all aspects of the news gathering, 
reporting, feature writing, photography and other information 
content oriented activities of news staff and correspondents is 
key. The position is also directly and personally responsible for 
news gathering, reporting, feature writing and photography content 
generation as well.

The Casey County News is a postal delivery weekly community 
newspaper located in Liberty, KY, with a net paid circulation of 
approximately 5,400.

Qualifications
* Experience as editor of a similarly sized community newspaper 
preferred; 3 - 5 years experience as a community newspaper senior 
reporter or equivalent required.
* Demonstrated high ethical conduct and standards.
* Proven record of sound judgment in newsroom content and coverage 
decision-making.
* Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision 
while effectively coordinating multiple news coverage projects and 
assignments on deadline and on budget.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to 
bring staff members together to achieve a common goal.
* Excellent writing and editing skills using computerized 
newspaper content management system.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
* Responsible for the development and successful implementation of 
strategy and tactics to achieve the business unit's content 
improvement plan.
* Responsible for growing the net paid circulation of the 
newspaper through the publication of compelling news and 
information.
* Write compelling, accurate and timely news and information 
features for publication in the weekly newspaper and special 
publications of the business unit.
* Actively recruit and train competent and effective community 
correspondents and stringers.
* Edit, proofread and prepare for pagination all staff and 
submitted content.
* Design and layout the weekly newspaper with an eye for 
circulation marketing and net paid growth.
* Write for publication a weekly or otherwise frequent editorial 
and column.
* Update news and information for publication on the newspaper’s 
website.
* With the General Manager, responsible for the development and 
implementation of annual operating expense budgets pertaining to 
news department activity of the business unit.
* Maintain a publicly accessible posture for readers and other 
community stakeholders on news and editorial matters.
* Actively participate in various community functions and events.  
Take a leadership role in the community.
