ReporterLosAlamosMonitor.txt~Reporter~The Los Alamos Monitor, located in northern New Mexico, is seeking to fill the position of a full-time reporter. This award-winning daily newspaper has a circulation of 4,000 and publishes five days a week. The paper is part of Landmark Community Newspapers and Landmark Media Enterprises and can be found online at www.lamonitor.com. Qualified candidates should have a bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent training with 1-3 years of newspaper experience. Candidates should possess good writing, resarching, interviewing and editing skills along with good grammar, spelling and punctuation skills. Fluency in AP Style is preferred. The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license. Responsibilities include submitting bylined articles each day on deadline. Some of these articles will be assigned, others will be reporter-driven articles based on beat coverage as well as enterprise stories. This position requires taking photos and/or shooting video. The primary beat will be public safety (police, fire, courts) and also other features and topics as assigned. In addition, the position requires occasional layout duties for the Los Alamos Monitor and website maintenance. The job is hourly (40 hours per week) and requires evening and some weekend work.
