ReporterPhotographerKyStandard.txt~Reporter-Photographer~The Kentucky Standard in Bardstown has an opening for a reporter/photographer. This position is responsible for photography, video and writing for the tri-weekly newspaper, newspaper website and special sections with assigned beats, general assignments and feature stories. Bardstown is just 35 minutes south of Louisville and 60 miles west of Lexington. The successful candidate will write news, features and columns as assigned. Duties also include some spot sports coverage and sports photography. This person will also take photographs and shoot video (news, features, business/community) as assigned and to accompany news stories. In addition, this person will update and produce copy, photos, video and slideshows for the web site and produce multi-media format stories, photos with video and audio for the web site. Other job functions include electronic pagination design of select news and features pages and developing/writing features and news for special publications, promotions. The right candidate will assure accuracy and objectivity in all news reporting, be able to meet deadlines and serve as a positive liaison with the public. A bachelor's degree in journalism or related field is desired. Candidates should have good writing, researching and interviewing skills along with good grammar, spelling and punctuation. Competency in photography and Photoshop is desired. Candidates should have good pagination skills, and experience in Quark is helpful. Knowledge and interest in the Internet and social media is desirable. Candidates must have the ability to work well with other departments and employees, to include PLG News 13, Standard Communications' cable television operation, with a commitment to team play. Must have a vehicle to travel to assignments, a valid drivers' license and proof of vehicle insurance. The work schedule is roughly 45 hours weekly with some evening and weekend work required.
