Annual organized events include the Owen County Fair and Horse Show, the Route 127 Yard Sale, Sweet Owen Days, the Chamber of Commerce Sporting Clays Shoot, the Monterey Fair and the Christmas parade.

The county also has an extensive genealogy resource collection in the library and approximately 60 local cemeteries. We are also within 30 minutes of the historic state capital of Frankfort and within an hour of many exciting cultural events, including the Kentucky Speedway, Turfway, Keeneland, Belterra Resort & Casino and Argosy Casino.

Elk Creek Hunt Club, a world class clay pigeon and archery facility nestled in the woods of Owen County, hosts the annual Boomer Esiason Cystic Fibrosis Shoot. The Esiason shoot has become one of the nation's top cystic fibrosis fund raisers. Above, Boomer takes a
